Lets Ink It Up - "Stitching"

As design team member for Let's Ink It Up this month's theme for us girls on Team B was "Show us your Stitching faux or real" ..... now I am not a great sewer or knitter or crocheter (are there such words in the English language?) but I do like to add machine stitching to some of my projects, nothing ambitious because if I was honest they are slightly frightening aren't they ...sewing machines?

I decided to alter an old perfume gift box.  Now this was very shiny bright blue so I spent a while sanding down the edges, which I then inked with a mixture of Worn Lipstick and Aged Walnut DI.  I then took a selection of Papermania vintage papers.  These were inked and stamped and then machine stitched.  The lid piece was also distressed further by tearing the edges.

I used various stamps including Creative Expression Unmounted Sewing Plate, Personal Impressions and Crafty Individuals.

I also covered the inside of the box and made compartments.  With the idea of using it as a possible gift I filled with sewing goodies including coloured embrodery threads, lace and buttons.  I then made six individual notelets from a kraft ribbed card; each one a individual design and faux stitching added.

I really hope you pop along to the Let's Ink It Up Challenge Blog and see the other DT's work.  As another incentive to play along with a super theme there is a prize  from our sponsor - Stamping Scrapping who is offering one of their custom Spellbinders matching stamps sets to the winner (value $19.99).  The prize winner will have a choice of one of three sets, so its worth playing along.

I am entering this piece into the following challenges:-

The Angel Company - DDH who would like to see some stitching.
Delicious Doodles who is "in stitches"

Wow, love itm what a pretty box it is now. My problem with sewing is mostly (1) not being able to find a needle in my mess and (2) not being able to see to thread it....But I will try this challenge all the same! Have a nice weekend, Hugs, Valerie
