"VINTAGE" at Make My Monday

New month, new theme over at "Make My Monday" and it has been chosen by my fellow DT Member Fliss!  Jacqueline the challenge owner is kind to let us all have a say in the themes.  Anyway it is "VINTAGE" for the month of July and this week Fliss wants to see:-

Brown & Cream with either Pink OR Blue

Now I love anything vintage - i.e. shabby etc so this is right up my street.  I have got a couple of other projects on the go for the CUBBY HOLE which has involved digging out some of my mum's old photos and these have inspired me to do a couple of 8x8 scrapbook layouts.  Because I could not decide between pink and blue - have done one in each colour combination.  I know (can hear Nigel shouting "swot!").
My Nan and Grandad - newly married circa 1943
The base paper is from a Tim Holtz paper pad and the blue and cream flowered paper is an old sheet of K&Co which I have had ages.  The chipboard "love" and frame are K&Co from their Blue Awning range - these were heavily glittered and did not fit in with the layout so I took an emery board to them and gave them a good sanding down.  I ruched ribbon under the blue and cream paper, added a sentiment.  The hearts (Crafty Individuals stamp) were stamped on the blue and cream paper with DI Walnut Stain and then embossed.
My Nan (left) with her mother and siblings - circa 1926

K & Co Ancestry paper used for the base and co-ordinating trim. I stamped some text on to the base card, tore circles from the same papers and made the tattered rossettes (I am loving these at the moment - Christine Costello gave me the idea  - thank you Christine), added buttons and another touching sentiment.  The border was punched with an EK Success border punch and then coloured with Victoria Velvet distress ink.

I hope to see you at "Make My Monday"  taking part - its a fabulous theme and open to interpretation. Dont forget my blog candy thank you is still available if you leave a comment......
