Alter It with the Craft Room

Hello, these Tuesdays certainly are flying around ....we are in October-where has the year disappeared to?  Anyway I digress - the Craft Room's new challenge is set by my fellow DT member, JULIA - who creates the most wonderful craft work.....and she has asked us all to:-

" A L T E R    I T"

Our generous sponsor this time round are:-  Stamp Addicts

This is a fab theme for me as I quite like altering things.  This mannequin and heart were altered especially for my daughter for her room in halls - they are rather drab when you first walk in.  Danni (hence the "D") is studying Fashion Branding & Business (hence the mannequin) and she specifically selected the colours.
I added the wings inspired by Jonas Salk's quote:-

"Good parents give their children roots and wings.
Roots to know where home is, wings to fly away and exercise what's been taught them".

We hope we are good parents and have done our best.. but the saying struck a chord ....as the wings will let her fly the nest and experience life but then also fly home.  Please accept my apologies for "going on" but just wanted to explain where my "alter it" piece came from.

My heart and mannequin were covered in Marianne Design Paper Tapes - Silhouettes and Birdcages.  This is a huge range and is gorgeous.  The focal words are all Stampotique stamps and the butterflies are stamps from a Crafty Individuals stamp.

The wings and the chipboard "D" on the heart were painted numerous times with a mixture of white and purple and coats were baby wiped and sponged to get the "worn" look.

I have added paper flowers, charms, lace and netting.

As well as being my DT piece for the Craft Room's "Alter-It" challenge I would like to enter the challenge:-

Blimey O'Reilly Suzanne, this is just amazing, I love it. Your imagination has certainly gone into overtime here, it so creative and right up my street.
The sentiment is just lovely, and very poignant as my beautiful daughter officially flew the nest last Saturday when she got married. I think this is one of the nicest pieces you have created. Julia xxxxxxx

Suzanne, I tried to leave a comment last night but my computer had a hissy fit lol I wanted to say that this is just an awesome set, and I love how you made it for your daughter to have at her halls of Res, everytime she sees it she'll be thinking of you and home and that just gives me warm fuzzies :-) Debi x

Hi, Suzanne! These are just lovely--the purple is beautiful! Sorry not to get back to you until now...the images I used on my MMM card are all from the Graphic's Fairy! :) I used a photo editing program to create a collage and then printed it out. :) Hope this helps!!!

Wow! Your mannequin and heart are really beautiful Suzanne. Your daughter will treasure these and keep you close to her while she's learning to fly!! (I have a daughter at Uni too and I'm still finding it difficult even though she's in her third year of being away. Once a Mum, always a Mum.)
