Friendship at the Craft Room

Today sees me hosting my first challenge at the Craft Room and as I was made to feel so welcome at this DT when I joined them my theme for this fortnight is:-

"FRIENDSHIP"
Happiness is time spent with a friend

If you pop over to the Craft Room not only will you see my fab DT friends wonderful inspiration, my explanation on the challenge theme  but we also have a wonderful prize kindly sponsored by:-

Crafty individuals

Now Crafty Individuals are a favourite stamp brand of mine so I wanted to use their stamps in my DTpiece.....  I used CI 277 and also the wonderful Marianne Design Creatables Shells-LR0230 and decorated a wooden icon arch which was part of my birthday present from my very good friend Sall!

The arch has been painted in ochre acrylic pain and then overstamped in burnt umber and stream acrylic paints (tip to oneself - always wash stamps immediately).

The chipboard frame was also painted in stream acrylic and then distressed with the burnt umber and then slightly sanded.  The shell dies were also treated to a little paint and then sanded with an emery board.

The girlfriends were coloured with my faithful Marvey markers - some are now running dry but on this piece I quite liked the effect as it gave a "washed" or "scratched" look for my beach scene with a difference.
Hopefully you can see that by stamping with acrylic paint rather than normal ink gives a little more texture.
Fibres, and a few embellishments (fish, shell and hearts) were added.  Hope you can play along with my Friendship Challenge at the Craft Room.

I am entering my wooden arch into the following challenges:-

My Marianne Design shell dies

A new challenge blog with various themes throughout the month with a great DT.  This week they are wanting to see your markers used - I used Marvy Markers to colors my "girlfriends".

Thanks for popping by!  Suzanne ~x~

Hi Suzanne. This is a lovely card. I love the 'washed out' look to the little girls - you can imagine that they've got rather windswept on the beach! The shells add great detail to this project too.
Thanks for joining in our "At the Beach" challenge at Lexi's Creations this time.
