New Term & New Theme - Gingersnaps Creations

I cannot believe that I am now entering my third term on the Gingersnaps Creations design team.  Pop along to the blog and see the newest DT members and contributing artists.  This month, April we have a new overriding theme - the Far East; and this month's Chestnut challenge is "Geisha".  Now I dont have any oriental stash at all - so I called upon Christine Costello (what would I do without her!) who kindly allowed me use of her Stampington Puccini Muse - this is one gorgeous stamp!
For the base of my card I have used a black Bazzill cardstock and then mounted with carob Bazzill card, upon which I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil to ink through with burgundy and brown inks - I was hoping to achieve an oriental cherry blossom sort of look.

Puccini was stamped onto tissue paper, which I had sprayed with a selection of gold, olive and raspberry coloured mists - though I do like texture think I may have been a little heavy handed with the PVA. Oriental charms were added to finish along with a sentiment.  This is my first easel card -  sure it will not be my last as I did enjoy it and I have seen some amazing easel cards out there in blogland that I can only hope to aspire to ... but we all have to start somewhere!  I think it because I don't over embellish ... and use mainly inks and paints but maybe I should invest in some embellies because I always gush when I see them!
Hope everyone enjoys the "Geisha" theme ...remember no pressure at Gingersnaps - you have a whole month to post your work!

Wowsers Sue! Absolutely stunning.. Your cherry blossoms came out beautifully using the stencil, and that stamp is amazing. It inspires me to get out my stash of Asian stamps that I haven't used in ages.

Wow...this is stunning...the colours and papers and technique is more than enough here, too many embellies would've wrecked the look. If you trust your own instincts you can't go wrong.
