"Let's Ink IT Up" 1st DT Piece..

How exciting is this?  Its time for Team's B to announce their challenge on the LET's INK IT UP challenge blog.  I was really chuffed to have been asked to be on the Design Team and I really hope I can do the task justice. My style is not well defined - I like to jump from one thing to another all depending upon my mood but I do hope you like what I have done here.

Anyway back to the nitty gritty girls and boys - you have two weeks to play along and there is a prize!  The challenge is to use Die Cuts/Punches in your art, either or both!  Lots of scope.

This challenge is being kindly sponsored by Taylored Expressions, who are an online store full of whimsical rubber stamps, coordinating kits and fresh ideas (this sounds cool).  You'll find everything to satisfy your creative sweet tooth (this sounds even cooler!).

I decided to decorate a plain  box, which my penpal Sall kindly gave me for Christmas.  I gessoed the box, lightly painted over with acrylic paint, sprayed lots of tissue with a mixture of gold, olive and raspberry Sticky Fingers Inks, stamped over with text and then added to the box whilst still wet to get the crumpled look.

The detailed butterfly is a Marianne Creatable die cutting folder and and the swirl is a Magenta chipboard die cut, which I painted with gold acrylic dabber.

I have used K&Co pattered paper which I have punched with a Fiskars Border Punch to edge my box and tag.  The flowers were punched out of the same K&Co paper from various punches (another gift from Sall lol) and flat backed pearls added.

The tag has had further punched flowers which have been stamped over with text and the words "Kindred Spirit" are from a Cuttlebug cutting die.

I do hope you like my box.  I have crammed it full of goodies and winged it off to Sall in Devon in return for her kindness in sending me a number of punches to help me with this challenge.  I do so love my crafting/arty friends - both in person and cyber land - as they are all such a friendly generous sharing group of people; whether it be actual stash or just advice and ideas.  The ladies on the LET's INK IT UP DT forum have been so friendly to me too and have made me feel right at home - thanks.

I am also entering this piece into the following challenges:-

Looking forward to seeing your creations and visiting your blogs!

Your embellies look fabulous and the punching round the side a great idea.

Hi Suzanne! Yes, yes, yes! I would love to have the instructions for making that box. Oh I hope you get this one. I couldn't find your email. Mine is www.joylvgs@shaw.ca. Look forward to hearing from you. I am now following your blog also. What do you like to color with if you don't use Copics?
