Annual Ginger, Rust & Copper Challenge

I really cannot believe its has been over 12 months since I joined the Gingersnaps Creations design team.  Even if I have struggled with a couple of the themes I signed up to I have always enjoyed my spot!  The ladies are really friendly and supportive (extremely talented too goes without saying) - even to someone like me who doesnt always have time to join in the chatter!

Each year the challenge is to create your piece based on the Gingers colour, copper and rust!  You can get your thinking caps on as you have a month to submit your entry.  Additional fun with this challenge is a blog hop/spirit event - you can see the details here to start hopping.

I have used an 8x8 canvas mount, which I gessoed, painted, gessoed, painted, stuck text down - ripped off and started again.  You will get the picture as I am sure you have these moments yourself!  Rusty Hinge distress ink was the main ink used along with Walnut and Wild Honey.  My children kindly said it reminded them of ginger and rust colours but dearest hubby was not so kind lol!

Stamps used were a set of Tapestry Stamps and a PaperArtsy Hotpick plate. The text is from a very old Wild Flower guide which I picked up whilst on holiday a couple of weeks from a secondhand book shop in Wales. The original book only cost two shillings - so definitely an old one.

Pop along to the Gingersnaps Blog to see the eclectic samples from the other Design Team members and details of the blog hop and spirit event.  I hope you have enjoyed looking at my piece - I would love to read your comments!  Thank you  Suzanne :)

Wonderful creation, and I the layering effect sounds similar to the canvases I'm working on at the moment. I wonder if any will turn out gingery?

Suzanne, love your canvas, and all the different elements involved. Yes, I do know what it's like to paint and re-paint and paint again. I think thats whats so wonderful about art, "Do Overs" are acceptable !... Love your piece !
